Spring 2016 – Plum!

BeFunky Collage

Surprisingly, after six months of cold and the obligatory berry obsession, the colour scheme for spring 2016 is… plum! Personally I love the deep burgundy berry shades, so I aint complaining. So, I thought I’d share my personal favourites that are also similar to what I’ve seen on the catwalks:

I love this one because its a very similar colour to the Chanel Barcelona Red Lipstick which I spoke about in my Chanel Hot or Nots, but without the feathering, its more moisturising, and natural for everyday.

L’Oreal Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick in the shade ‘Persistent Plum’ – £6.99.

This gives a much deeper, darker colour that would be perfect with a smokey liner look. It has great pigmentation and lasted quite a long time on me.

Mac Lipstick in the shade ‘Instigator’ – £15.

This blush is a perfect shade to embrace this spring’s trend while not looking like you’ve been digging into your mom’s makeup. As I’ve said in my Top 5 Blushes post, I love Mac blushes, and this one gives a beautiful cool-toned flush to the cheeks as if you’ve been out in the cold winter air that will work on fair to some darker skin tones- the swatch really doesn’t do it justice. If you don’t want to splurge, there are many great dupes, such as the Nyx one in ‘Silky Rose’.

This is a cream alternative to a natural flush, and although ‘das ezzpensive, it is so buildable that it will look good on almost anyone (unless you’re extremely pale, because then it’s easy to use too much), it is so pigmented, and it blends so nicely. It will last longer than the Mac blush because of its creamy formula too, so it will last you a lifetime. An darker alternative with that strong berry colour is ‘Crush’.

Illamasqua Cream Blush in the shade ‘Betray’ – £22.

Makeup Geek *choir music*. I just had to include an eyeshadow in this post somewhere, so I thought one of my all-time favourites would be appropriate. ‘Bitten’ is a deep warm plum burgundy that looks lovely in the crease or just all over the lid with a bright inner corner highlight. You know what? Just put it everywhere. Trust me.

And finally, of course, you can’t get through any colour trend without your favourite bottle of nail polish. Mine is by Sally Hansen (duh) in the shade Pep-Plum, and it’s a bright, fun, fruity colour for spring.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear polish in ‘Pep-Plum’ – $2.48 in the US (I’m sorry I got this while I was over there please don’t kill me).
